The Company
The Company was formed by Paul Toplass, Isabel Toplass, John Machin and Becky Machin in 2003 joining forces to provide their business and local authority clients a more rounded and bigger pool of professionals to deal with their needs 24/7.
The directors have known each other since 1989 when they meet at university and formed a friendship which has stood the test of time.
We work for many business clients from major supermarkets and food manufacturers to small sole trader businesses, our skills are appropriate to all businesses.
The company also works with the following Universities to provide practical food inspection courses and examinations:

- University of Wales - Cardiff
- John Moore university - Liverpool
Paul Toplass
Paul worked as an industrial chemist before qualifying as an Environmental Health Officer in 1992 from Nottingham Trent University. He worked for Leicester City council for twelve years before leaving in 2002 to work as a freelance consultant.
He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and an associate member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). John Machin
Brought up in a household of health professionals John gained an insight into helping people at an early stage. His first job was working in the kitchens at a relatively large hotel in Scarborough, where he started to become familiar with the challenges facing a family run business.
He moved to study at Nottingham Trent University and qualified as an Environmental Health Officer in 1992; taking a post at Derby City Council. He remained there for twelve years before joining forces with Paul & Isabel Toplass to form 'Machin & Toplass Ltd'.
He is a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner and a Chartered Safety & Health Practitioner. |
